About Me:
My name is Nisha van Dijk, and my musical journey with the piano began at the tender age of 7. From those early beginnings, my love for music has only deepened, encompassing a wide array of genres and artistic pursuits.
Piano Teaching Philosophy:
As a new addition to The Rock Academy's esteemed faculty, I bring not only years of experience but also a deep love for all forms of music. My piano teaching philosophy centres on fostering creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for music in my piano students. I strive to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their musical interests and develop their unique artistic voices.
Musical Journey:
Throughout my musical journey, I've had the privilege of immersing myself in various genres, from rock to jazz and beyond. I've participated in numerous competitions and events, honing my skills as both a performer and a musician. Notably, I served as the pianist for Pukekohe High School's Stage Band, where our collective talent earned us gold at KBB and a respectable 4th place in the National Jazz Band-it finals held in Wellington last year.
Passion for Composition:
Beyond my accomplishments as a performer, I have a profound passion for composition, particularly in crafting film-styled scores. I find immense joy and fulfilment in creating melodies that breathe life into stories, evoking emotions and enhancing the cinematic experience. My compositions reflect a blend of technical precision and artistic expression, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of musical influences.
Filmmaking and Creative Exploration:
When I'm not at the piano, you'll often find me immersed in the captivating world of filmmaking. I am drawn to the art of storytelling, directing, and worldbuilding, exploring animation and visual storytelling with the same creativity and passion that fuels my musical pursuits. My multifaceted interests converge seamlessly, enriching my artistic expression and allowing me to approach each project with a unique perspective.
