New Guitar Teacher Karori to Johnsonville

At The Rock Academy NZ, I bring over eight years of experience playing both guitar and drums, along with a genuine passion for helping students grow in confidence and skill. I’ve performed live with a range of bands at events including the Auckland Jazz & Blues Festival, Battle of the Bands, and the KBB Music Festival, giving me strong real-world performance experience that I bring into my teaching.

My musical background includes playing in high school Jazz Band and Big Band, where I also stepped into small teaching and leadership roles. These experiences helped shape my understanding of both ensemble playing and how to guide other musicians in developing their abilities.

I’ve spent several years teaching friends and family from scratch, helping them learn their first chords, first beats, and eventually their favourite songs. These early teaching experiences confirmed for me that music is something everyone can learn with the right guidance and encouragement.

As a teacher, I’m patient, laid-back, and supportive. I believe music is for everyone — whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to refine your skills.

I offer structured, easy-to-follow lessons that focus on:

• Developing your ear

• Building strong foundational technique

• Improving rhythm and timing

• Learning to confidently play the songs you love
