Meet the Bass Queen of Wellington: How One Musician Brings the Vibe to Our Holiday Programme and Band School - January 20th to 23rd - 2026

When you walk into the EBIS school hall on any given day during our holiday programme or catch a session at Band School on Cuba Street, you’ll probably hear it before you see it — that silky smooth bass line that pulls everything together. That’s the magic of our resident bassist, a true style guru and a cool customer with serious musical flair.

At just 14 years old, she’s already mastered the kind of bass presence that makes every jam session feel tight and every groove feel effortless. Whether she’s laying down fat, warm tones or walking a funky line that gets everyone nodding along, she brings an energy that lifts the whole room. Her playing doesn’t just support — it shapes the sound. Singers, guitarists, drummers, and keyboard players all feel that vibe and respond to it.

But her influence goes well beyond music.

At our Wellington holiday programme, she’s one of those kids who sets the tone for fun and creativity. She’s just as enthusiastic about four square, table tennis, badminton, and all the other activities as she is about her bass — and that mix of interests helps create a welcoming environment where every kid feels like they belong. She gets along with everyone, whether they’re just starting out or are older and more experienced players, and the balance she brings to the group really enhances the overall dynamic.

And when the day shifts over to Band School at Cuba Street, her presence continues to resonate. Other young musicians look up to her not just for her playing, but for her style — both musical and personal. She has a way of making practice feel like a good time, and she reminds everyone that music should be as fun as it is expressive.

Our January holiday programme runs from Tuesday the 20th of January through to Friday the 23rd, and with musicians like her in our midst, this year’s sessions are shaping up to be something truly special. Whether your child is a budding bassist, a singer with big dreams, or someone just eager to find their rhythm, this programme has the space and support to help them thrive.

It’s not just a holiday programme — it’s where young musicians find their groove, build confidence, and make memories (and grooves) that last a lifetime. 🎸🎶✨
