Jack - Wellington Holiday Programme

At just 13 years old, Jack has already found something many people spend a lifetime searching for: a passion that truly lights him up. His journey with the guitar began a couple of years ago when he joined the Rock Academy Holiday Programme—and from that very first experience, something clicked. He had only just started lesson but seeing the older kids playing and having fun was enough to ignite the passion that he carries to this day.

What started as a fun school-holiday activity quickly turned into a full-blown love for music. These days, Jack is rarely without his guitar. He’s constantly learning new songs, building his skills, and diving deeper into the world of rock. Ask him what he’s listening to lately and you’ll likely hear a bit of Foo Fighters coming from his playlist—strong riffs, big energy, and the kind of sound that keeps him inspired to keep practicing.

For the past year and a half, Jack has been a regular part of the Rock Academy Holiday Programme. Over that time, his confidence and ability have grown massively. Each programme gives him more than just time with an instrument; it gives him a space to be creative, challenged, and surrounded by other kids who share the same excitement for music.

But it’s not all about the guitar. One of Jack’s favourite parts of the holiday programme is the range of kids’ activities that break up the day and keep things fun. Four square, in particular, is a big hit—fast-paced, competitive, and full of laughs. Those moments help build friendships and make the programme feel like a community, not just a class.

At home, Jack’s dad couldn’t be prouder. Seeing the passion that music has brought into Jack’s life has been incredibly rewarding. The guitar has given Jack focus, confidence, and a creative outlet—and it’s something his dad loves to see him so deeply invested in.
