Exciting Performance & Workshop Opportunity – Youth Week Gig at Massey University

My name is Kat and I’m a third-year music student at Massey University. I’m part of a club called Cheerios and Chinwags, which runs music-related events on campus. (Our Instagram) This year we are organising an event as part of Youth Week, which is the 19th - 25th May. Cheerios has been given a grant by Ara Taiohi to put on a music event, and we are looking for people interested in performing as a part of this or taking part in the workshops and helping to put on the show. (Ara Taiohi website)

On Saturday 24th May, we will run a workshop and gig, with a focus on learning live sound and lighting programming for the workshops, and then a gig in the evening with youth bands/solo artists. During the gig, the people who were part of the workshops will have the chance to do sound and lighting for the performances. The schedule for the day is, 1:00 - 3:00 pm Soundcheck for the performers, 3:00 - 5:00 pm Workshops for sound and lighting, 5:00 - 6:00 pm Dinner (dietary requirements can be catered for and dinner is included for artists and participants in the workshop as part of the event.) 6:00 pm Doors open, 6:30 pm First artist plays. We are expecting to finish around 8:30 pm, but it will depend on how many artists there are and how long their sets are. The gig is free and open to all ages, it will take place in Te Kōhure (1C15), the live room in the music block (block 1) at Massey University. (Massey University map)

I have included the link for the workshop and artist sign-ups. If there is anyone you think would be interested, either to take part in the workshop or to play for the gig would you be able to forward this information on to them and share the link to the form if they want to apply?

If you have any questions, just let us know.

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you,

Kat
