Playing guitar is great for improving your memory

Writer's picture: Geoff DayGeoff Day

Many studies have shown that playing the guitar greatly improves the production of brain cells and improves your memory.

The memorizing of chords and melodies goes a long way towards improving your memory. Dyslexic people are a good example of how the brain works in many wonderful ways, they make great musicians! Sometimes young people who struggle at school can get back on track by learning the guitar. Over the 30 years that I have been teaching, many times I have had problematic children improve greatly in their behaviour and their learning abilities. Personally, I feel that music should be compulsory but that is a different issue altogether.
